Valentine’s Day is coming up, and as we’re getting closer – dessert ideas are starting to build up more and more. But as with any occasion – there’s always a way to health-ify it. Caroline Edwards, from over at Chocolate & Carrots, not only has one of the nicest, and warmest blogs out there – but she has some of the nicest tasting and looking recipe creations. This week she shows us some of her favourite Valentine’s Day desserts. Take a read:

Five Healthy Valentine’s Day Desserts

What’s a better way to show someone you care on Valentine’s Day than by fixing them a healthy treat that tastes delicious? I would certainly love that! I’ve collected five healthy, but scrumptious Valentine’s Day desserts that will surely impress even your toughest critics.

    1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries by Blissfully Domestic - Probably the simplest and most healthy of all the Valentine’s desserts. This step-by-step photo and gif tutorial will show you exactly how to make them, impressing any love interest with a tongue. ;-)

    2. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

    3. Chocolate Blackberry Mille Feuille from Gourmande in the Kitchen- With just a few simple ingredients, you’ll have an impressive chocolate blackberry dessert, leaving you with the richness of flavors. Substituting chocolate for the traditional puff pastry as the layers in this mille feuille, it does a wonder on you waistline and your palate.

    5. Chocolate Avocado Pudding by How Sweet It Is- What’s not to love about getting some healthy fats into your diet with a little pudding? I’m sure if you served this to a non-health-nut, leaving out the ‘healthy’ part, they would love it! You can surprise them later and reveal that it’s actually pretty good for them!

    7. Double Fudge Bean Brownies from Feast Greedily- Yes, it’s got a little more sugar than I’d like, but the fact that you can cram in two cups of beans into a brownie makes it okay in my book! Plus, for Valentine’s Day it’s okay to splurge a little.

    8. Bean Fudge Brownies

    9. Apple Peanut Butter Pops from 360 Family Nutrition- Made from apples, apple butter and peanut butter, you can’t get any more healthy! Shaping them like hearts and putting them on a stick, makes them all the more fun and thoughtful forValentine’s Day.
